OUR STORY

European owners, Dirk De Cuyper & Allison Morgan, founded Eten Food Co. in 2010.  Allison is British and Dirk is from Belgium.  Eten means “Food” or “To Eat” in Flemish, one of the languages spoken in Belgium.  

They based Eten on a European Traiteur, which literally translates as “caterer.”  In Belgium, a traiteur store offers a daily showcase of their chef-prepared foods, in addition to catering services.  Taking this concept of showcasing your food, Eten’s owners created a daily Chef’s Case and added a To-Go Menu of artisanal sandwiches and salads.  

Since 2010, Eten’s catering services have grown into full-service event planning & production.

Prior to starting the business, Dirk & Allison spent many years catering onboard luxury yachts offering a very high level of food & service to their clients and onboard guests.  Their years catering on world class yachts gives them the unique skill set to meet the exacting standards of the many catering clients they work with today.

DIRK DE CUYPER

EXECUTIVE CHEF/OWNER

Dirk is a classically trained European chef who has over 25 years experience working as a chef in a diverse range of kitchens around the world.  He gained his apprenticeship in Belgium where he spent six years training in Classical French and Nouvelle Cuisine and Pastry.  During his apprenticeship and for a further ten years, he worked in Michelin-star restaurants throughout Belgium.  Since the mid-nineties, Dirk worked as the head chef on board private and charter yachts and private estates.  Dirk now combines his European training with influences from traveling to produce top quality, creatively presented food each day in Eten’s kitchen.

ALLISON MORGAN

DIRECTOR OF CATERED EVENTS/OWNER

Allison has extensive experience in the field of hospitality, having spent 10 years working on board private yachts. Prior to this, Allison worked in Public Relations and Event Management in London, organizing publicity campaigns for a range of clients. At Eten, Allison oversees the catering team bringing a level of excellence and a European flair to Eten’s catered events.
